The Gold Coast Hinterland wine region in Queensland is a picturesque area, encompassing the cooler climate surrounding Mount Tamborine and Springbrook, extending to milder Canungra Valley and Albert River climates.
The majority of wineries in this region are situated around the breathtaking area of Mount Tamborine. It is a perfect place for a long weekend, with wineries to explore as well as cute cafes for lunch, day spas to pamper yourself, and quirky shops to take home a souvenir.
Whilst the town does have vines under planting, the majority of wineries utilise grapes from other regions. Witches Falls is a must-visit, offering some unique varietals not seen widely in the area. Their Wild Ferment Tinta Barroca and Provenance Merlot were outstanding, made even better enjoyed in the beautiful garden setting.
Mount Tambourine is just 80km south of Brisbane and 36km east of the lively Gold Coast. You will find a number of boutique wineries, breweries and distilleries nestled at the base of the mountain. The cellar doors and restaurants of this region operate from historic homesteads and buildings and offer the visitor an exceptional wine tourism experience.
The Gold Coast Hinterland is not an official wine region. It borders the other unofficial wine region of the Scenic Rim. The two areas overlap around Tambourine Mountain and some wineries appear across both regions. As such, we have used artistic license to create the region’s borders for the embedded maps, including the wineries within this region.
